Overview

Summary of Responsibilities:

Develops advanced-level documents, including customer-facing documents with business logic rules, using a wide array of system development tools. Codes, tests and implements variable print programming and electronic dissemination systems, translates, mockups into system templates. Develops eCommerce and registration websites using best in class software. Works in a team environment with minimal supervision, escalating issues to management as needed.

Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities:

  • Creates dynamic, variable data templates for client marketing on-demand sites that accommodate variations in content while ensuring design integrity and client branding across all media (print, digital, direct mail, email, web). Configures products on storefront sites that follow client business rules and create a positive user experience.

  • Develops eCommerce sites utilizing WebCRD software in conjunction with XMPie to provide a convenient shopping experience for clients allowing them to obtain a variety of variable data printed material as well as promotional items.

  • Creates variable data customer correspondence and statements using conditional logic and variability. Generates test cases and collaborates with project team to review output and conduct defect resolution.

  • Documents the rules and criteria statements that make up the document composition code in a graphic manner for future maintenance.

  • Analyzes customer data and integrates into variable templates using relational logic, basic programming language and the application’s visual tools.

  • Identifies new technology for use within the division and/or throughout the Company, and obtains a thorough understanding of a given new technology (through a combination of formal training, research and trial and error). Establishes, for the benefit of division and Company associates, software and hardware best practices related to document technology.

  • Provides work estimates and establishes target dates in conjunction with SMEs, programmer/analysts and testers for requests that require document systems development or revisions.

  • Builds documents for use by a wide variety of business units throughout the Company based upon input from the subject matter experts.

  • Participates in department, division and group continuous improvement initiatives. Obtains additional technical and professional skills in order to keep pace with customer needs and technological advances.

  • Resolves system defects, troubleshoots errors in document output and technical issues when they occur. Identifies hardware and software compatibility issues and escalates to Manager when necessary.

  • Builds registration websites using online vendor software and modifies page code directly on the sites.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Selection Criteria:

  • Proven aptitude for approaching problems analytically and logically. Ability to codify logic.

  • Demonstrated ability to learn and thoroughly master new software. Cite specific examples of software learned and used appropriately.

  • Proven experience learning and adapting to new technology and using it to address business needs. Cite examples where new technology was used to solve specific problems or address specific opportunities.

  • Proven experience troubleshooting technical problems and arriving at solutions.

  • Proven experience utilizing variable data driven software to create a variety of document types.

  • Demonstrated understanding of current document dissemination methods, including physical, electronic, static and data-driven.

  • Proven experience handling multiple duties and completing assigned tasks accurately and timely. Cite examples of working independently and consistently meeting productivity and quality goals.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with associates at all levels to understand requirements and convey issues appropriately. Cite examples of gathering requirements and adding value to a document by understanding its purpose and use.

  • Proven general familiarity with page layout principles.

  • Proven experience adapting and demonstrating flexibility associated with changes to policies/procedures.

Work Setting:

  • Works in an office setting and remains in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or trade school certificate related to variable document or information creation, or commensurate selection criteria experience.

Computer Skills and Knowledge of Hardware & Software Required:

  • Highly proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access.

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Word.

  • Working knowledge of at least one variable data-driven document assembly system (e.g., OpenText xPression, OpenText Exstream, XMPie, Page Flex, Xtreme Dialogue, Fusion Pro) preferred.

  • Working knowledge of XML, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery preferred.

Certifications & Licenses (i.e., Series 6 & 63, CPA, etc.):

  • None required.
