Overview

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Strategic Data Analytics Manager leads the strategy for Touchstone Investments relating to client segmentation, data analytics, implementation, and engagement with Touchstone’s client constituents. In this role, the Strategic Data Analytics Manager facilitates the use of various data resources across Touchstone and from shared services team to ensure data and data analytics are being used to drive client segmentation, engagement, productivity and sales growth.The Strategic Data Analytics Manager, ensures that various departments understand the health of their business results, helps find growth levers, and identifies opportunities for optimization.  Reporting to the SVP, Head of Marketing this role is responsible for translating distribution, marketing, product, and business/financial analytics into actionable tactics to help grow the business.

Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities:

Leadership/Support:

  • Responsible for setting the departmental vision and culture and championing for the use of data/analytics in making key business decisions.
  • Responsible for driving the day-to-day analytical approaches and for exploring solutions to defined problems related to our go-to-market strategy.
  • Tasked with the management and long-term prioritization of the business’s overall data/analytical needs and opportunities.
  • Helps define the business questions that need be answered and defines appropriate analytics models in addition to identifying relevant data sources for analysis.
  • Takes initiative in improving the departmental heads’ understanding of the use of data analytics to improve decision-making across the business

Strategy:

  • Plays a leading strategic role in coordinating data analytics in strategy development with regard to various business functions/departments such as marketing, sales, product, among others.
  • Creates new data-driven approaches for the purpose of generating business insights and go-to-market strategies through data analytics, information visualization, and addressing unanswered business issues in a proactive manner.

Analytics:

  • Is the business subject matter expert in driving the development and application of analytical algorithms and methods where possible with a view of driving and enhancing and sales/marketing processes.
  • Strives to improve the quality of analytical solutions on a consistent basis
  • Is the strategy lead for the analytics and warehousing functions in the creation of high quality analyses for all  aspects of the business and in the definition of metrics that track the business’s performance at different fronts, with a focus on sales drivers
  • Validates, interprets, and creates reports and presentations for departmental heads/management, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Understand financial market concepts emphasizing equity and fixed income portfolio and security level analytics, including all asset classes and relevant systems (preferred)
  • Collaboration:
  • Fosters collaboration by facilitating joint brainstorming and team ideation
  • Coordinates with shared services data owners in defining the data collection needs of the business for the purpose of future work and also for guaranteeing that there is high data-quality and reliability across the business.

Qualifications

Selection Criteria:

  • 7+ years of working experience in a sales/marketing organization with focus on driving client engagement, acquisition, and cross-selling by using data analytics and applied processes. (preferred)
  • The candidate will also have proven and successful experience in the execution of data analytics initiatives, leading to the development of useful insights and the improvement of a business’s performance and driving top-line growth
  • Demonstrated success in working with a wide range of data/data analytics in order to generate and use financial metrics for a business.
  • Demonstrated experience building actionable response models for a business.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experienced in communicating with all levels within the organization
  • Proficient in creation of engaging, clear and concise reports and presentations for management and key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated passion for research and data and is highly skilled in implementing quantitative analyses on various business functions
  • Skilled being able to draw complex queries that ultimately lead to improvements in business performance.
  • Understanding of A/B testing as well as vast knowledge in the identification of key metrics that measure and drive long-term health of the business.
  • Readily takes the initiative and is helpful and service-oriented
  • Has strong problem-solving skills
  • Works comfortably in a cross-functional setting
  • Comfortable working with senior business executives
  • Takes accountability for results

Work Setting:

  • Works primarily in an office setting and frequently requires being in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.
  • Performs frequent movement of wrists, hands and fingers for continuous computer work.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelors of Science in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Economics, Information Systems, Statistics, Applied Math, Business Administration, or any other related field. Master’s Degree (preferred). 
  • An equivalent of this requirement in working experience is also acceptable for the position.

Computer Skills and Knowledge of Hardware & Software Required:

  • Excellent computer skills and be highly proficient in the use of Ms Word, Ms Excel, PowerPoint,
  • Demonstrated skills in Salesforce, SQL server reporting services, Tableau, analysis services, or any other visualization tools.

Certifications & Licenses (i.e., Series 6 & 63, CPA, etc.):

  • None required.

Position Demands:

  • Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects.
