Overview

Summary of Responsibilities:

Responsible for leading the development and execution of Data, Integration and Business Intelligence (BI) strategy and roadmaps, and the support of systems and services for structuring, organizing, storing, retrieving, integrating, analyzing and reporting data. Works closely with internal customers to identify and maximize opportunities to utilize data marts and/or data warehouses in support of enterprise BI initiatives, and to leverage enterprise data management and integration platforms. Ensures the development of enterprise standards for data management, integration and BI. Provides corporate leadership, vision and direction for these disciplines.

Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical expertise and implementation leadership for data services and defines a technical roadmap for strategic data initiatives.

  • Creates and maintains standards and best practices for data modeling, data integration, metadata, data quality and business intelligence.

  • Working with Data Architecture, creates conceptual, logical and physical data base models for data warehouses/marts.

  • Works with business areas to understand their challenges around data and help design business intelligence solutions to meet those needs.

  • Establishes relationships with key business constituencies and serves as an advocate for business intelligence and data management across multiple departments.

  • Works with IT teams on integration, reporting and business intelligence needs relative to their projects.

  • Coordinates with other technical staff to develop database architectures, ETL and application integration standards, and quality assurance policies and processes.

  • Develops strategies for data acquisition and collection, archiving and recovery, implementation and data grouping and categorization as a basis for implementing master data management as part of the data architecture roadmap.

  • Manages all personnel assigned. Promotes development of the staff and ensures that group members are adequately trained to carry out their responsibilities and stay current on state-of-the-art technology.

  • Recruits, hires, trains and develops staff. Provides direction to and development of associates through daily coaching, the administration of the Performance Management Model and the creation and implementation of development plans.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Selection Criteria:

  • Proven knowledge of the financial services industry.

  • Demonstrated deep technical expertise in data architecture, data integration, database design, ETL, Enterprise Service Bus, reporting and analytics.

  • Eight to 10 years of senior management experience in infrastructure services, data warehousing, business intelligence, data services architecture, data integration and ETL technologies.

  • Proven ability to interact with senior management and communicate at all levels of the organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to excel in a highly matrixed environment and to influence others without relying on direct reporting relationships.

  • Proven advanced knowledge of information portfolio, program and project management principles, best practices and enabling tools.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain an enterprisewide view of potential and deployed technologies.

Work Setting:

  • This position works in an office setting and remains in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.

  • Requires visual acuity to read a variety of correspondence, reports and forms, and to prepare and analyze data in an accurate, neat and thorough manner.

  • Ability to continuously make repetitive motions of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or commensurate selection criteria experience.

Computer Skills and Knowledge of Hardware & Software Required:

  • Proficient using word processing, spreadsheets, database and email programs.

  • Proficient in Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle RDBMS.

  • Working knowledge of AIX, Windows and Linux operating systems, including scripts and task scheduling.

Certifications & Licenses (i.e., Series 6 & 63, CPA, etc.):

  • None required.

Position Demands:

  • Extended hours may be required during peak workloads or special projects and off-hour support.

  • On call responsibilities may require the use of a cell phone or pager when providing off-hour support.
