Overview

Summary of Responsibilities:

Regional Sales Vice Presidents (RSVPs) are responsible to meet regional life and annuity sales goals on a profitable basis as established by the Senior Vice President (SVP). Core to their success is maintaining a broad group of GAs who write profitable business for Lafayette Life Insurance Company (LLIC). Focus is split between maintaining/enhancing relationships with existing General Agents (GAs) and continually recruiting new GAs who meet the Company’s quality standards to continue to grow the region’s life and annuity business profitability. Works with minimal supervision and is responsible to independently make a broad range of critical decisions, escalating to executive-level associates only when appropriate.

Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities:

  • Recruits new GAs in assigned territory who meet the Company’s quality standards to write profitable business. Maintains strong and positive relationships with existing GAs in their region who write profitable business for LLIC.

  • Provides orientation, product training and direct sales support to new and existing GAs in assigned territory or as directed when needed.

  • Develops close coordination and working relationship with Internal Wholesaler in executing field activities. Works closely with the Internal Wholesaler to solicit and promote the sale of LLIC products with new and existing GAs.

  • Develops and utilizes advanced product and operational procedure knowledge. Product knowledge includes all LLIC products, embedded sales driven features, sales systems, product introductions and enhancements/updates. Operational procedures knowledge includes new business submissions, underwriting and issue procedures, securities office procedures, commissions and state filing approvals.

  • Offers input to LLIC on ways to improve product sales and service. Maintains a high level of awareness of competitors and shares timely information with Internal Wholesaler and other Home Office staff on competitors’ products and industry trends.

  • Manages expenses prudently within assigned expense parameters. Provides regional recruiting, sales and expense reports to management in a timely manner.

  • Keeps up with the trends in our business, networking and being aware of our competitors’ strategies and major operational initiatives.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Selection Criteria:

  • Proven significant experience in the life insurance business. Understands agency management and has a successful track record of managing a region and recruiting new GAs.

  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of:

  • Life and annuity products.

  • Sales and marketing concepts.

  • GA/Agent contracts and compensation structures.

  • New business, contract and licensing and customer service processes.

  • Proven strong knowledge of LLIC website and its uses as an information and communication tool for GAs/advisors/staff.

  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of LLIC’s illustration software including integration with LEAP, MoneyTrax and Tapestry.

  • Proven excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to successflly interpert and communicate complex business needs with internal and external partners in a clear, focused and concise manner while following proper rules of grammar, diction, and style.

  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and open to new ideas and concepts.

  • Proven ability to be self-motivated and goal-oriented.

  • Demonstrated team player and able to compromise for the betterment of LLIC.

  • Proven good negotiating and problem-solving skills.

Work Setting:

  • This position travels and works in various office settings and requires being in a stationary position for long periods of time frequently while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings. Position requires frequent movement of wrist, hands and fingers for continuous computer work.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or commensurate industry experience.

Computer Skills and Knowledge of Hardware & Software Required:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

  • Working knowledge of extranet and product illustration software.

Certifications & Licenses (i.e., Series 6 & 63, CPA, etc.):

  • CFP, CLU and ChFC or commensurate industry experience.

  • State insurance license.

  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

  • Maintain appropriate vehicle insurance.

Position Demands:

  • Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects.

  • Extensive travel required (50-70%).
