Overview

Summary of Responsibilities:

Manages the planning, organizing and directing of Human Resources’ activities in support of assigned business unit(s).  Acts as business partner with business units to maximize human resource assets in the areas of employment, compensation, associate relations and performance management.  Assists other areas as needed with generalist responsibilities.  Works with supervision and is responsible to make an established range of decisions, escalating to Manager when necessary and updating Manager on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities:

·         Works with business unit partners to identify human resource needs, developing and implementing solutions to achieve business objectives.

·         Analyzes human resource assets within each operation.  Works with all managers to identify associate strengths and areas for development.  Consults with managers on development of individual associate action plans to improve skill level and performance.  Coaches managers to work with associates to implement plans.

·         Counsels with managers and associates to resolve work issues and maintain a positive pro-active associate relation's climate.  Reviews and approves all associate corrective action documents. Works with business unit management to promotes team atmosphere.

·         Administers compensation program for divisions.  Reviews and approves all merit, promotion and demotion requests. 

·         Works closely with Talent Acquisition to facilitate the filling of all open positions within assigned business unit(s).  Conducts exit interviews and provides feedback to managers.  Coaches managers on retention strategies.

·         Conducts training programs that promote skill development for managers and associates.  Assists in reviewing various training programs being considered for the Guilford curriculum.

·         Keeps informed of latest developments in human resources field.  Provides guidance and counseling to divisions in areas related to human resources.  Informs manager and SVP, Human Resources, of human resource issues and activities in assigned areas.

·         Assists with generalist tasks across multiple business units as needed.

·         Performs other duties as assigned by management and partners with manager on decisions related to position responsibilities.

Qualifications

Selection Criteria:

·         Demonstrated experience in the Human Resource field to include, but not limited to, employee relations, organizational development, and compensation and/or recruiting.

·         Proven knowledge of Human Resources’ policies and procedures as well as applicable HR laws at the state and federal level.

·         Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of staff and management in a highly professional manner.

·         Demonstrated ability to identify complex problems and provide resolutions that are equitable and legally appropriate.  This includes accurately collecting fact based information used in determining courses of action.  Demonstrates good judgment when making decisions.

·         Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple assignments simultaneously in an accurate and on a timely basis.  Demonstrates strong attention to detail with excellent organization and time management skills. 

·         Proven excellent written, verbal and consultative communication skills with the ability to successfully interpret and communicate business needs between internal and external groups in a clear, focused and concise manner. 

·         Demonstrated excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to work with all levels of the Company in a highly professional manner.

·         Proven strong customer focus and work ethic.

·         Demonstrated ability and leadership skills providing direction, influencing and guiding individuals to a recommended course of action.

Work Setting:

  • This position works in an office setting and remains in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.  Position requires substantial movement of wrists, hands and fingers for continuous computer work.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a human resources or relevant course of study.

Computer Skills and Knowledge of Hardware & Software Required:

  • Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet applications.

Certifications & Licenses (i.e., Series 6 & 63, CPA, etc.):

  • None required.

Position Demands:

  • Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects.
