Overview

Summary of Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include leading the full lifecycle of activities for data-related projects such as data warehousing, business intelligence, data analytics and data governance. This includes gathering requirements, data profiling and analysis, collaborating in information review sessions, test case development, and identifying reporting needs and capabilities. Understands methodologies and technologies that depict the flow of data within systems and the business requirements and processes that need to be supported. Works under minimal supervision and is responsible to make a wide range of decisions, escalating to the manager when necessary and updating the manager on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads interviews with business resources to gather data requirements and definitions, including movement and transformation requirements between systems. Translate business requirements into data/technical specifications.

  • Leads the development of technical specifications and mapping documents.

  • Collaborates with ETL (extract, transform, load) developers and data modelers in the development of data models and implementation of best practices.

  • Leads troubleshooting of data related issues.

  • Leads the development of scenarios for use in system integration and user acceptance testing.

  • Is responsible for overseeing the work of other IT Data Analysts.

  • Researches, develops findings and presents recommendations on data related topics to development teams, internal customers, management and senior leadership.

  • Interprets data, analyzes results using statistical techniques and provides ongoing reports.

  • Assists in the development of the Enterprise Data Governance program.

  • Locates and defines new process improvement opportunities.

  • Filters and “cleans” data, locates and identifies data issues.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience with Business Intelligence and Reporting tools (Cognos, Tableau, Reporting Services, etc.).

  • Proven strong knowledge of ETL/Data Warehouse data modeling principles and development best practices.

  • Demonstrated experience creating effective business requirement documents, and communicating them to the appropriate parties.

  • Proven excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information to internal and external customers in a clear, focused and concise manner.

  • Demonstrated ability to read a variety of correspondence, reports and forms. Must have the ability to prepare correspondence, reports and forms using prescribed formats and conforming to proper rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style.

  • Proven strong analytical skills, including demonstrated experience identifying and quantifying problems and providing effective resolutions with the ability to conceptualize and use new methodologies. Must have the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

  • Demonstrated experience building relationships and working in a team culture that is committed to collaboration and service excellence.

  • Proven proficient in coding SQL.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management methodologies such as waterfall and Agile.

  • Knowledge of the financial services industry is preferred.

Work Setting:

  • Works in an office setting and remains continuously in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.

  • Performs repetitive motions of the wrists, hands and/or fingers for continuous computer work.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or commensurate selection criteria experience.

Computer Skills and Knowledge of Hardware & Software Required:

  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets and database applications.

  • Proficient in Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases. DB2 a plus.

  • Working knowledge of Structured Query Language.

Certifications & Licenses (i.e., Series 6 & 63, CPA, etc.):

  • None required.
