Overview

The Senior Investment Analyst position is a member of the private equity team with responsibilities relating to execution and assessment of investment opportunities through the investment process, including financial modeling and analysis, presentation development and delivery, helping to coordinate/manage day-to-day investment processes and participating/leading discussions with internal and external stakeholders. The Senior Investment Analyst works on deal teams with other investment professionals handling detailed evaluation of investment opportunities and serving on deal teams for due diligence. In addition, the position is responsible for preparing documentation, reports and analysis to aid the investment managers and deal teams in managing the process from deal screening through investment recommendation and reporting to limited partners. Works with some supervision and is responsible for making an established range of decisions, escalating to manager when necessary and updating manager on a regular basis.

The Senior Investment Analyst actively participates and assists in leading discussions with senior internal and external stakeholders. The includes the organization's investment committee and external senior partners of General Partners (GPs) and senior executives of portfolio companies. This Senior Investment Analyst is expected to independently contribute to the development of investment theses and correspondingly design due diligence plans. Independently manages work modules and concurrently manages projects across multiple workstreams and deal teams. The Senior Investment Analyst attends annual meetings and maintains ongoing dialogs and relationships with GPs and partners, prospective and existing.

Responsibilities

What you will do:
  • Participates as an active member of the team by owning and managing portions of the screening and due diligence process for prospective investments working independently and as directed by investment managers.

  • Interacts and effectively communicates with private equity firms, placement agents, investment bankers, entrepreneurs, CEOs, consultants, clients and prospective clients. Professionally represents the organization with internal and external senior stakeholders.

  • Manages the deal screening and due diligence processes, including documentation.

  • Provides detailed review and extensive analysis on potential investments, including track records, markets, financials and business plans.

  • Reviews and enters reporting information on underlying investments.

  • Participates in discussions, in meetings and reference calls on backgrounds and track records.

  • Drafts client communications, letters and presentations with high levels of professional institutional quality.

  • Builds advanced Excel models to evaluate investment results.

  • Drafts investment recommendations and presents to the Investment Committee.

  • Conducts, analyzes and summarizes online research on markets, people, firms and investments.

  • Train and onboard newly hired Investment Analyst and interns.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree is required, preferred analytical course work. ()
  • Typically requires two years of relevant experience that may include private equity, investment/commercial banking, consulting, investment management, corporate strategy/M&A and/or relevant quantitative capabilities. ()

  • Proven experience coordinating multiple projects/assignments simultaneously and completing assigned tasks, independently, accurately and on a timely basis. ()

  • Must demonstrate project management experience in planning, executing and maintaining a project from start to finish. ()

  • Proven experience in working with complex programs that require identifying complex data and analyzing the quality of the output provided. ()
  • Proven outstanding work and/or academic track record with a demonstrated history of achievement.

  • Proven quantitative skills (e.g., economics, mathematics, etc.) with some ability to work independently.

  • Proven capability with a professional attention to detail in writings, presentations and models.

  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to convey information to internal and external customers in a clear, accurate, focused and concise manner.

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare correspondence and reports in a manner that is understandable to others and prepared using a prescribed format, with some ability to work independently. Verbal and written communications are to conform to proper rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of staff and management.

  • Advanced skills in Excel modeling and PowerPoint presentations, and proficient in word processing with proven ability to develop presentations with professional presentation standards and some ability to work independently.

  • Must demonstrate strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills and process orientation. Expected to cite examples of organization and time management methods used to manage or prioritize workload demands. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information.

  • Demonstrated project management skills, with some ability to work independently. Must cite examples of developing, organizing, initiating and maintaining a project and successfully accomplishing set goals.

  • Proven strong analytical skills and ability to gain more independence. This includes demonstrated experience identifying, defining and resolving complex problems, and collecting or interpreting data to establish facts and draw valid conclusions to provide effective resolutions. Must be able to cite examples of good decision-making skills when dealing with multiple alternatives.

  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and use new methodologies.

  • Demonstrated maturity in dealing with a variety of people at various levels.

Work Setting/Position Demands:
  • Works in an office setting and remains in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.

  • Requires the ability to verbally communicate and exchange accurate information to customers and associates on a regular basis.

  • Requires visual acuity to read and interpret a variety of correspondence, procedures, reports and forms via paper and electronic documents, visual inspection involving small defects; small parts, and/or operation of machinery (including inspection); using measurement devices continuously. Visual acuity is required to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned.

  • Requires the ability to prepare written correspondence, reports and forms using prescribed formats and conforming to rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style on a regular basis.

  • Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

  • Performs substantial movement of wrists, hands, and fingers for continuous computer work.

  • Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects/events.
  • Associate must be able to travel via airplane
