Overview

Develops standardized financial, accounting and operating reports using Crystal Reports Designer.  Collaborates with end users and managers in the development of business requirements for reporting.  Acts as communication link between the management of other departments throughout the Comptroller business unit and throughout the company as projects, process and procedures are developed.  Assists manager in maintaining Comptroller report framework.  Maintains working relationships across the organization and demonstrates the ability to establish cooperation.  Acts as owner of system administration and maintenance function across accounting systems, ensuring that systems and processes are designed to meet user needs in an efficient manner as well as supervising the work of others performing system administration tasks.  Assists in the development of analysis tools and participates on special projects as a team member and subject matter expert.  Works with minimal supervision and is responsible for making an established range of decisions, escalating to manager when necessary and updating manager on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

What you will do:

  • Works with business units in the creation and streamlining of financial, accounting, expense management and other operating reports within Crystal Report Designer.
  • Assists manager in maintaining control of reporting framework, including coordinating new report development process and continuously seeking opportunities to streamline reporting needs.
  • Identifies accounting/reporting issues impacting W&SFG and recommends solutions to management.
  • Identifies opportunities to facilitate the development and/or improvement of report usage/presentation.
  • Provides support in the development of analysis tools necessary to help manage the business.
  • Takes ownership of system administration and maintenance functions for various accounting systems supported by the department, including the general ledger, expense reimbursement system, reconciliation tools and financial controls, and compliance workflow systems. Supervises and assists the accounting process analyst with the system administration and maintenance tasks.
  • Uses problem-solving skills to understand system-related issues and provide diagnostic assessment of the issue and offer value added solutions.
  • Provides support in maintaining the general ledger chart of accounts, including an understanding of the chart of account changes and their impact to the reporting framework.
  • Provides instruction to the end users for ad hoc reporting and system administration functions.
  • Assists manager in coordinating Comptroller participation in new product development/feeder system changes, including pre-implementation testing.
  • Provides project management support and assists in coordinating project management within the Comptroller business unit.
  • Assists in implementing effective processes and procedures for completing and improving work.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree In a business field with a degree in accounting, finance or business administration (Preferred)
  • Demonstrated system administration, user configuration and general maintenance function experience. (Required) 
  • Demonstrated successful experience in problem-solving situations. (Required) 
  • Proven experience handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while working cooperatively with others. (Required)
  • Cite examples of complex Crystal Reports developed and the process used in their development.
  • Demonstrated communication, technology, organization and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality, emphasizing the need to deliver quality products and/or services.
  • Cite examples of self-motivation and proactive personal development.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt communication styles and effectively communication technical information to associates at various level throughout the organization.
  • Proven excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as experience communicating with large and small groups.
  • Microsoft Office-Advanced Excel skills, Pivot Tables.

Work Setting/Position Demands:

  • Works in an office setting and remains in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.
  • Requires the ability to verbally communicate and exchange accurate information to customers and associates on a regular basis.
  • Requires visual acuity to read and interpret a variety of correspondence, procedures, reports and forms via paper and electronic documents, visual inspection involving small defects; small parts, and/or operation of machinery (including inspection); using measurement devices continuously. Visual acuity is required to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned.
  • Requires the ability to prepare written correspondence, reports and forms using prescribed formats and conforming to rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style on a regular basis.
  • Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Performs substantial movement of wrists, hands, and fingers for continuous computer work.
  • Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects/events.
