Overview

Coordinates and supports Computer Center operations' activities related to production job scheduling and operations documentation. Creates, maintains and coordinates disaster, holiday and operational testing (OT) job schedules for both the mainframe and distributed platforms. Provides technical guidance for evaluating, implementing and training for new products on the mainframe and distributed platforms. Works with minimal supervision and is responsible for making an established range of decisions, escalating to manager when necessary and updating manager on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

What you will do:
  • Analyzes complex application dependencies and prerequisite relationships that span Production, QA and Test environments as well as both mainframe and distributed systems. Works actively with the applications developers to optimize job processing and scheduling aligned to business requirements.
  • Provides scheduling support to application development projects by assisting in the resolution of complex technical problems. Coordinates with programming and technical services staffs the automation of operational tasks in order to improve efficiency.
  • Schedules all production and OT jobs for the Western & Southern Financial Group, including disaster and holiday schedules. Ensures all changes are documented and are forecasted to ensure accuracy.
  • Researches operational problems and/or questions and coordinates changes relative to Computer Center procedures.
  • Maintains Computer Center databases and documentation relevant to job scheduling.
  • Updates disaster recovery documents, performs disaster backup activities and participates in disaster testing procedures.
  • Represents the Computer Center on various committees dealing with new systems, products, testing, etc.
  • Maintains proficiency in automation tools and products.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree In a business/technical field or commensurate selection criteria experience. (Required)
  • Demonstrated experience working in a large-scale mainframe and/or open systems processing environment. Must have working knowledge of systems, utility programs and software. (Required)
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively within a team. Must provide examples of collaborating with co-workers in difficult situations. (Required)
  • Demonstrated experience effectively handling customers and providing excellent service. (Required)
  • Provides examples of consistently meeting productivity and quality goals from work experience. (Required)
  • Proven experience adapting and demonstrating flexibility associated with changes to policies/procedures. (Required)

  • Working knowledge of Workload Automation Tools (Windows Scheduler, CA ESP, etc.).
Work Setting/Position Demands:
  • This position works in an office setting and remains in a continual stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment or while in meetings.Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.Working knowledge of Workload Automation Tools (Windows Scheduler, CA ESP, etc.).Ability to multitask and handle high-pressure situations.Must work a regular shift and be prepared to work extended hours if needed.Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects.Use of a cellphone and remote computer may be necessary when on call. On-call coverage is rotational. Call frequency will vary, but a couple of calls/month may be typical. Works as a team to meet department goals.
