Overview
Assists in the daily food production and service of approximately 2,000 meals per day. Rotates among six server positions and five cold food prep positions according to a standard rotation schedule. Prepares, sets up and cleans serving areas in the cafeteria and dining rooms. Interacts with guests and ensures that all items are stocked and available for service. Under direct and some indirect supervision, incumbent is responsible for making a limited range of decisions, escalating to lead worker on a regular basis and updating management when necessary
Responsibilities
What you will do:- Reviews recipes, menus and changes before pulling the following day's ingredient cart, and prepares daily food and supply requisitions according to forecasted menus for each position.
- Processes produce and cold foods following Western & Southern (W&S) and Safe Serve procedures.
- Weighs and measures prepared ingredients for recipes and correctly marks them according to (W&S) procedures.
- Prepares all cold foods for each position following (W&S) standardized recipes, presenting them to the pantry chef and ensuring top quality before storing foods according to Safe Serve standards.
- Assists in preparing and packaging boxed lunches according to daily order report.
- Prepares salads, sauces, toppings bars and cold foods according to (W&S) recipes.
- Runs dirty dishes and utensils to the dish room for cleaning and returns to service promptly.
- Communicates during service time with the kitchen, supervisors and cafeteria associates to ensure that ample foods are stocked and ready for quick, uninterrupted service.
- Completes daily tracking sheet for each cold food item, and daily leftover and food waste logs with pantry chef.
- Reports equipment and mechanical malfunctions promptly to facility services and management for immediate service.
- Works in dish room, pot washing, serving lines and on the cafeteria floor as needed.
- Cleans and sanitizes work surfaces, equipment, storage areas and carts.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
- Receives ordered products daily and ensures all freezers, refrigerators, coolers, cracker room and storage areas are organized, rotated, correctly marked according to HACCP principles and all goods are utilized to minimize waste.
- Sets up serving lines according to menus and diagrams with proper pans and utensils.
- Serves entrée and soups according to (W&S) standards.
- Completes scheduled temperature readings of all foods and record correctly in the Temperature Log.
- Cleans and sanitizes all work surfaces, steamtables, refrigerators, frozen yogurt machine and freezers daily according to (W&S) standards.
- Requisitions supplies daily for each position.
- Performs the floor duties and ensures that food and beverages are stocked and restocked during service times.
- Assures that the trayveyor system is functioning correctly and according to (W&S) procedures.
- Returns utensils, dishes, trays and supplies to service quickly, and returns empty carts and rack to the dish room.
- Stocks napkins and supplies before and during service times.
- Cleans and sanitizes tables in dining room.
- Assures accurate and top-quality setup, break down and delivery of special events.
- Transports food and supplies as needed.
- Sanitizes, assembles and operates the frozen yogurt machine, and performs all cleaning and scheduled maintenance according to the rotation schedule.
- Checks quality, temperature and portion size for all foods being served, and records in the Temperature Log daily.
- Works in dish room as needed, according to six position rotation.
- Maintains, cleans and stocks all beverage equipment, including soda, coffee, tea and ice machines according to (W&S) standards.
- Communicates with guests and takes care of their needs, finding tables, helping with trays and restocking products.
- Directs the PT - Utility Worker Aides ensuring completion of tasks are done correctly and timely.
- Cleans and sanitizes all work surfaces, equipment, carts and smallwares in each area.
- Accurately follows all HACCP principles for safe food handling and sanitation.
- Sweeps, mops and cleans serving line and dining room floors daily.
- Completes Prep Server Log daily ensuring tasks are complete and issues are recorded for Supervisor review.
- Promptly attends, communicates and participates in daily and weekly meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications
- High School Diploma Or GED (Required)
- Typically having one to two years of experience operating, cleaning and servicing food service equipment.

- Proven experience and knowledge of table serving, food service or food service production. (Required) and
- Demonstrated experience handling multiple duties and completing assigned tasks accurately and on a timely basis. Must cite examples of planning, executing and maintaining assignments from start to finish.

- Demonstrated ability to perform basic mathematical functions, including fractions.

- Proven ability to think strategically and problem solve quickly, independently and in a group.

- SAFE Serve Certification Safe Serve Certified within six months of date of hire. within 180 Days (Required)
Work Setting/Position Demands:- Ability to continuously stand , walk, reach, bend, push, pull, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, extend hands and arms in any direction, lift including lift a maximum of 35 lbs. frequently unassisted and 50 lbs. assisted.
- Requires the ability to verbally communicate and exchange accurate information to customers and associates on a regular basis.
- Requires visual acuity to read and interpret a variety of correspondence, procedures, reports and forms via paper and electronic documents, visual inspection involving small defects; small parts, and/or operation of machinery (including inspection); using measurement devices continuously. Visual acuity is required to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned.
- Requires the ability to prepare written correspondence, reports and forms using prescribed formats and conforming to rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style on a regular basis. Read and respond to email.
