Overview

Places mutual fund trades for the firm's registered reps via the brokerage platform. Rebalances and places model trades for client accounts held by the firm's Registered Investment Advisor. Monitors all daily trade activity firmwide, ensuring trades are entered and processed in accordance with published firm rules and industry regulations. Processes and documents trade error and trade correction requests. Serves as a point of contact and subject matter expert for the brokerage platform performing account paperwork review and opening, maintenance, cashiering requests, transfers and additional follow up as needed. Works with some supervision and is responsible to make an established range of decisions, escalating to the manager when appropriate.

Responsibilities

What you will do:

  • Executes mutual fund orders through the brokerage system.
  • Model trading for the Registered Investment Advisor, including rebalancing, initial trades and liquidations.
  • Adheres to all SEC, FINRA, WSBS and sponsor rules, regulations, policies and procedures when placing trades.
  • Evaluates error correction requests to determine the appropriate corrective action to implement and document action taken. Notifies compliance and management if appropriate.
  • Documents activity, including trade tickets and order blotters.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for the brokerage platform, performing account paperwork review and opening, maintenance, cashiering requests, transfers and additional follow up as needed.
  • Responds to field inquiries on the brokerage platform and other products or services available through WSBS.
  • Trains and educates the field by communicating WSBS and Brokerage Operations policies, procedures, processes, products, service charges, etc.
  • Prioritizes problem resolution items, resolves and responds or escalates to the operations manager accordingly.
  • Monitors brokerage exception reports. Researches exceptions and takes appropriate action when necessary, which may include contacting registered reps.
  • Seeks continuous improvement in all processes and services that affect WSBS and Brokerage Operations; implements necessary changes.
  • Provides assistance as needed to management for other projects and duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma Or GED - Required
  • College degree - Preferred
  • Registered Investment Advisor experience trading or back office administration preferred. - Required
  • Proven experience as a licensed professional, either as a producer, trader or call center representative. - Required
  • Must provide examples from work experience of maintaining a high degree of accuracy associated with high volumes of work and/or multiple duties. - Required
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining a calm and professional demeanor when handling stressful situations. - Required
  • Demonstrated experience working independently. Experience must include identifying and resolving problems where independent decision-making and initiative were demonstrated. - Required
  • Proven strong analytical skills, including demonstrated experience identifying and quantifying problems and providing effective resolutions. - Required
  • Demonstrated knowledge and background in trading, trading desk operations and compliance of mutual fund trading. -
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail with excellent organization skills. Cite examples of organization and time management/methods used to manage or prioritize workload demands. -
  • Possesses and displays excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to convey information to internal and external customers in a clear, focused and concise manner while following proper rules of grammar, diction and style. Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of staff and management. -
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information. -
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications. -
  • Able to adapt to use proprietary and web-based systems. -
  • Familiarity with Pershing and the NetX360 brokerage platform preferred. -
  • Series 7 and 63 Upon Hire - Required
  • Series 24 Upon Hire - Preferred
  • Series 65 or 66 Upon Hire - Preferred

Work Setting/Position Demands:

  • Works in an office setting and remains in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.
  • Requires the ability to verbally communicate and exchange accurate information to customers and associates on a regular basis.
  • Requires visual acuity to read and interpret a variety of correspondence, procedures, reports and forms via paper and electronic documents, visual inspection involving small defects; small parts, and/or operation of machinery (including inspection); using measurement devices continuously. Visual acuity is required to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned.
  • Requires the ability to prepare written correspondence, reports and forms using prescribed formats and conforming to rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style on a regular basis.
  • Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Performs substantial movement of wrists, hands, and fingers for continuous computer work.
  • Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects/events.
