Overview

Calculates and analyzes commissions and compensation for multiple Western & Southern Financial Group business units requiring a basic understanding of multiple systems and compensation structures. Responsible for the analysis of a range of items with impacts to commission and compensation exceptions and adjustment processing. Serves as a back-up for critical functions and completes special projects as assigned by management. Responds to inquiries and acts as a point of contact for internal and external parties, providing excellent customer service. Resolves open/aged items through proper research and communication. Works independently with minimal supervision, escalating issues to management when appropriate and updating Manager on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

What you will do:

  • Provides prompt and accurate customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Processes commission payments, reviews statements and releases payments.
  • Performs daily verification and review of commissionable activities and reporting, working with IT and shared services as needed.
  • Resolves commission issues, questions and complaints by telephone or written correspondence through gathering, researching and analyzing policy information.
  • Acts as a liaison for hierarchy setups, contract setups and quality review of licensing activities.
  • Processes incentive programs, including commission adjustments, production bonus and advances.
  • Assists Licensing Department and New Business as needed with inquiries from agents and internal customers regarding commissions and contracting.
  • Initiates process to obtain beneficiary information ensuring continued commission payment for deceased producers.
  • Assists with procedure redesign and implementation of compensation plan changes.
  • Provides feedback for automating and streamlining Commission department processes while maintaining the integrity and usefulness of such processes.
  • Supports audit requests from internal and external partners. Delivers timely and thorough supporting documentation and calculations for commission payments.
  • Assists with tax, benefit and reporting requests.
  • Updates systems and processed payments related to debit balances and collection efforts.
  • Acts as a department representative when needed.
  • Interacts with managers and team members on various Commission department issues.
  • Serves as a backup for critical functions for other desks within the Commission department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma Or GED - Required
  • Bachelor's Degree Or commensurate experience within financial services - Preferred
  • Proven experience managing multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment. - Required
  • Demonstrated experience successfully handling confidential information. - Required
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively within a team and of going above and beyond the call of duty to assist team members. - Required
  • Two or more years' experience in the financial services industry preferred. - Preferred
  • Experience working with commissions, reconciliations, general ledgers and financial reports desired. - Preferred
  • Proven strong analytical skills, including demonstrated experience identifying, quantifying and providing effective resolutions to problems. -
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of business math with a high comfort level of working with numbers. -
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail. -
  • Proven ability to grasp new products, concepts and procedures. -
  • Proven examples of handling difficult situations while maintaining productive working relationships. -
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to convey information to internal and external customers in a clear, focused and concise manner while following proper rules for punctuation, dictation and style. Ability to prepare correspondence, reports and forms using a prescribed format. -
  • Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software including Excel and Word. -

Work Setting/Position Demands:

  • Works in an office setting and remains in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.
  • Requires the ability to verbally communicate and exchange accurate information to customers and associates on a regular basis.
  • Requires visual acuity to read and interpret a variety of correspondence, procedures, reports and forms via paper and electronic documents, visual inspection involving small defects; small parts, and/or operation of machinery (including inspection); using measurement devices continuously. Visual acuity is required to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned.
  • Requires the ability to prepare written correspondence, reports and forms using prescribed formats and conforming to rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style on a regular basis.
  • Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Performs substantial movement of wrists, hands, and fingers for continuous computer work.
  • Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects/events.
