Overview

The System Services Manager at Gerber Life is responsible for delivering scalable and cost-effective IT infrastructure, ensuring reliable and secure system performance aligned with business needs. This role involves managing a team of Engineers/Administrators, overseeing disaster recovery planning, system availability, and proactive process improvements to manage outages and costs. Key responsibilities include collaborating on infrastructure planning, leading innovation, ensuring compliance with security policies, coordinating project resources, and developing team members through performance management and training. The manager must effectively handle multiple priorities and maintain business continuity in the face of potential disruptions.

Responsibilities

What you will do:

  • Leads the planning, design, and implementation of standardized server, storage, and virtualized infrastructure. Develops and enforces standards and processes—covering hardware selection, OS configurations, patching strategies, and automation practices—to ensure systems are reliable, scalable, and highly available.
  • Leads a team to ensure the continuous operation and high availability of infrastructure components across Intel hardware, storage, Windows, Linux, virtualization, AD, and Citrix environments.
  • Leads Disaster Recovery planning for systems and infrastructure components to ensure business continuity and minimal disruption in the event of a disaster.
  • Drives innovation and efficiency improvement in his/her team, develops continuous improvement initiatives and seeks to implement cost effective solutions while delivering and managing highly secure and available systems.
  • Guides the team in researching and evaluating solutions, gathering input from diverse sources to recommend the best options that meet business requirements.
  • Coordinates internal and external resources to execute infrastructure projects such as hardware refreshes, storage expansions, virtualization upgrades, OS migrations, and Active Directory enhancements, while supporting ongoing operational objectives.
  • Performs ongoing capacity management and analysis to proactively identify and address infrastructure scalability, performance, and resource utilization challenges.
  • Ensures compliance across the full infrastructure stack—including server, storage, virtualization, Windows, Linux, AD, and Citrix—by addressing evolving security and regulatory requirements and remediating identified gaps in existing systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and resources for multiple priority sets at the same time.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • Provides direction to and development of associates through daily coaching, the administration of the Performance Management Model, and the creation and implementation of development plans. Recruits, hires, trains and develops staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree B.S. in computer science or related field, or commensurate experience - Preferred
  • 3+ years of experience leading System Engineers and Administrators overseeing compute, virtualization, and storage infrastructure across complex enterprise environments. - Preferred
  • Comprehensive understanding of data center computing environments, including server hardware and operating systems, client operating systems, virtualization, storage systems, networking, backup and recovery solutions, and a foundational knowledge of IT general controls and compliance frameworks. Preferred
  • Microsoft, NetApp, VMware certifications desired. Upon Hire - Preferred

Work Setting/Position Demands:

  • Works in an office setting and remains in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.
  • Requires the ability to verbally communicate and exchange accurate information to customers and associates on a regular basis.
  • Requires visual acuity to read and interpret a variety of correspondence, procedures, reports and forms via paper and electronic documents, visual inspection involving small defects; small parts, and/or operation of machinery (including inspection); using measurement devices continuously. Visual acuity is required to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned.
  • Requires the ability to prepare written correspondence, reports and forms using prescribed formats and conforming to rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style on a regular basis.
  • Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Performs substantial movement of wrists, hands, and fingers for continuous computer work.
  • Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects/events.

Travel Requirements:

  • 5% travel Must be able to travel periodically to corporate locations, industry conferences, or training events to support business objectives and ongoing professional development.
