Overview

Performs a variety of accounting and financial functions related to diverse real estate investment portfolio in excess of $6 billion. Collaborates with management on budgeting, reporting and forecasting as well as other financial operations relating to the portfolio. Also assists with preparing audit workpapers and support. Works with minimal supervision and is responsible for making an established range of decisions, escalating to management when necessary, providing updates on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

What you will do

  • Prepares complex accounting, budget, investment, and intercompany journal entries. Prepares and analyzes complex accounting and financial reporting deliverables. Prepares complex reconciliations of financial and/or budget data. Prepares complex eliminating entries and detail entries for consolidated real estate investment portfolio. Prepares and or reviews complex monthly and quarterly GAAP and statutory reports.
  • Reconciles complex bank accounts and resolves reconciling items by the following month-end. Reviews routine bank account reconciliations.
  • Collaborates with external management company accounting professionals to ensure investment financial statements are accurate.
  • Prepares quarterly valuations on real estate development projects based on a percentage of completion model.
  • Prepares complex reconciliation of W&SFG operating income and realized gains to system of record. Prepares reconciliation of W&SFG general ledger accounts.
  • Analyzes new investments to identify appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance. - Required
  • Typically requiring 2-5 years of experience in real estate accounting and related Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). - Required
  • Proven experience coordinating multiple projects/assignments simultaneously and completing assigned tasks accurately and on a timely basis. Must demonstrate strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills. Expected to cite examples of organization and time management methods used to manage or prioritize workload demands. Must demonstrate project management experience in planning, executing and maintaining a project from start to finish. - Required
  • Proven examples from work experience of going above and beyond the call of duty to assist team members. - Preferred
  • Proven examples from work experience demonstrating flexibility to meet department needs. - Required
  • Demonstrated experience effectively providing excellent service. - Preferred
  • Proven strong ability to review and analyze operating statements and other related financial information. - Required
  • Proven ability to interpret and analyze complex operating agreements, loan documents, and other legal documents. - Preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of staff, management, partner, and management company personnel. - Preferred
  • Proven examples of working under multiple deadlines with minimal supervision. Must cite examples of successfully organizing and effectively completing projects where given little or no direction. - Required
  • Proven strong analytical skills, including demonstrated experience identifying and quantifying problems and providing effective resolutions. - Required
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to convey information to internal and external customers in a clear, focused and concise manner. Ability to successfully interpret and communicate business needs between internal groups in a clear, focused and concise manner. - Required
  • Maintains limited knowledge of statutory accounting principles. - Preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products. - Required
  • Proficient in industry-standard accounting system. - Required
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - Preferred


Work Setting/Position Demands:

  • Works in an office setting and remains in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.
  • Requires the ability to verbally communicate and exchange accurate information to customers and associates on a regular basis.
  • Requires visual acuity to read and interpret a variety of correspondence, procedures, reports and forms via paper and electronic documents, visual inspection involving small defects; small parts, and/or operation of machinery (including inspection); using measurement devices continuously. Visual acuity is required to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned.
  • Requires the ability to prepare written correspondence, reports and forms using prescribed formats and conforming to rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style on a regular basis.
  • Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Performs substantial movement of wrists, hands, and fingers for continuous computer work.
  • Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects/events.
