Overview

The Assistant Vice President, Portfolio Manager is accountable for the management of assigned Fort Washington
portfolios, including portfolio strategy, risk budgeting, implementation, performance, liquidity, and alignment
with client or enterprise objectives. The role exercises a high degree of independent judgment within approved
mandates and works closely with senior portfolio managers, analysts, traders, ALM, risk, and other partners to
deliver portfolio outcomes. Coverage may include investment grade credit, high-yield/leveraged credit, emerging
markets debt, securitized products, ALM-related portfolios, alternative credit, or other assigned strategies.

Responsibilities

What you will do
• Determine and implement portfolio strategy for assigned portfolios within approved objectives,
guidelines, and risk parameters.
• Manage portfolio risk budgets, sector allocations, security selection, liquidity, cash deployment, and
performance drivers.
• Evaluate research recommendations, relative value, market conditions, and portfolio fit before making
portfolio decisions.
• Coordinate with analysts, traders, ALM, cash management, operations, and risk partners to execute
portfolio strategy.
• Monitor portfolio performance, exposures, income, liquidity, risk limits, and compliance with investment
policies.
• Lead portfolio reviews and communicate portfolio positioning, risks, and performance to internal
stakeholders.
• Represent assigned portfolios in client, marketing, or business development discussions as appropriate.
• Support AUM growth and client retention through clear explanation of portfolio strategy and results.
• Contribute to broader investment team discussions on market outlook, sector allocation, risk positioning,
and relative value.
• Provide informal coaching and investment guidance to analysts and assistant portfolio managers.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • Qualifications
    • Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a quantitative-related field - Required
    • Demonstrated ability to manage investment portfolios, make sound risk/return decisions, communicate
    investment views, and operate with a high degree of independence. - Required
    • Ability to translate research, market conditions, liquidity, income, and guideline constraints into portfolio
    construction and trade implementation decisions. - Required
    • Skill in coordinating with analysts, traders, risk, ALM, cash management, operations, and client-facing
    partners to execute and explain portfolio strategy. - Required
    • Track record of risk-adjusted performance. - Required
    • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Upon Hire - Preferred

Work Setting/Position Demands:
• Works in an office setting and remains in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a
desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.
• Requires the ability to verbally communicate and exchange accurate information to customers and
associates on a regular basis.
• Requires visual acuity to read and interpret a variety of correspondence, procedures, reports and forms
via paper and electronic documents, visual inspection involving small defects; small parts, and/or
operation of machinery (including inspection); using measurement devices continuously. Visual acuity is
required to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned.
• Requires the ability to prepare written correspondence, reports and forms using prescribed formats and
conforming to rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style on a regular basis.
• Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts,
and draw valid conclusions
• Performs substantial movement of wrists, hands, and fingers for continuous computer work.
• Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects/events.
• Occasional after-hours work needed.
Travel Requirements:
• 10% travel for company management meetings, industry conferences, and client engagements.
