Overview

This role works closely with the SQA and Development Leadership to define data warehouse and Business Intelligence testing strategy and processes in line with enterprise standards. The candidate is responsible for creating, executing and maintaining a project level data testing strategy and framework for a given set of data testing tools and demonstrating innovations to increase data warehouse testing efficiency.

Responsibilities

What you will do:

  • Collaborates with SQA management and platform teams to standardize reusable data testing strategies, approaches, and methodologies.
  • Establishes enterprise-wide best practices for various aspects of test data management, including data masking, retention, historical data management, virtualization, sub-setting, synthesizing, randomizing, cleansing, refreshing, aging, cloning, archiving, versioning, disposing, prioritizing, and traceability.
  • Reviews and approves automation suites for master data preparation across various applications.
  • Manages the process for accepting, provisioning, and fulfilling data requests from ongoing projects, coordinating with the release team to align timelines with integrated application environments and code availability.
  • Utilizes Informatica to test ETL loads at different stages of data acquisition, including extraction (from operational sources, XML, DB2, flat files, COBOL, etc.), transformation (merging, cleansing, scrubbing, aggregation), staging, preload, and deployment to data warehouses and operational data stores.
  • Provides expertise in automating data warehouse and operational data store testing processes and validations using Informatica and other automation tools.
  • Defines, implements, and oversees enterprise standards and processes for testing data quality in collaboration with business and architecture teams.
  • Creates knowledge management deliverables, such as documentation of enterprise processes and procedures, and enables enterprise users to follow these processes and procedures.
  • Drives continuous process improvements in test data management and data warehouse testing domains.
  • Trains and mentors enterprise data test team members to enhance their skills.
  • Defines, documents, and governs repeatable and reusable test data management processes such as profiling, provisioning, governance, and automation.
  • Develops and standardizes reusable test data management and data warehouse testing frameworks for the enterprise.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Or commensurate selection criteria experience - Required
  • Data Integration / Business Intelligence testing in a complex environment working with an engine based ETL tool as wells as Cognos or Tableau reporting tools - Required
  • Skilled in identifying, defining, and quantifying problems; collecting and interpreting data, establishing facts, and providing effective solutions. Demonstrated experience in resolving moderate to complex problems. - Required
  • Understand data models from a technical solution and business use perspective - Required
  • Experience with TDM tools such as CA Test Data Manager, Delphix, or Informatica TDM - Preferred
  • Strong understanding of data concepts including OLTP, OLAP, centralized, functional, federated data warehouses, data merging, cleansing, scrubbing, aggregation, dependent and independent data marts, star schema, various table dimensions, types of facts and fact tables, dimension modeling, and different types of OLAPs. -
  • Proficient in writing complex SQL queries for testing ODS, DataMarts, and Data Warehouses. -
  • In-depth knowledge of various SDLC processes, QA lifecycle, and methodologies, with expertise in leading data testing methodologies. -

  • Microsoft Certifications in C# and SQL (MCP, MSCE, etc.) Upon Hire - Preferred

  • ASQ Certified Quality Improvement Associate (ASQ CQIA) Upon Hire - Preferred
  • TDWI's DW Certification or equivalent Upon Hire - Preferred

Work Setting/Position Demands:

  • Works in an office setting and remains in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.
  • Requires the ability to verbally communicate and exchange accurate information to customers and associates on a regular basis.
  • Requires visual acuity to read and interpret a variety of correspondence, procedures, reports and forms via paper and electronic documents, visual inspection involving small defects; small parts, and/or operation of machinery (including inspection); using measurement devices continuously. Visual acuity is required to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned.
  • Requires the ability to prepare written correspondence, reports and forms using prescribed formats and conforming to rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style on a regular basis.
  • Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Performs substantial movement of wrists, hands, and fingers for continuous computer work.
  • Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects/events.
  • Occasional after-hours work needed
