Performs a variety of duties to meet Home Office laundry requirements including washing, drying, ironing and repairing. Works with some supervision and is responsible for making a minimal range of decisions, escalating to manager when necessary and updating manager on a regular basis.

What you will do:

• Sews and repairs uniforms, and sews name patches and emblems on uniforms.
• Keeps machinery and area clean.
• Presses laundered items.
• Folds hand towels, dishtowels and aprons.
• Operates all laundry machinery, which includes commercial washers, dryers and presses.
• Informs supervisor of equipment problems and other issues.
• Assists Housekeeper with light cleaning duties as needed.
• Observes and adheres to all safety regulations and practices.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with all policies and standards.

• High School Diploma Or GED - Required
• Previous laundry experience - Required
• Demonstrated experience working independently. Experience must include identifying and resolving problems where independent decision-making and initiative were demonstrated - Required
• Demonstrated knowledge of detergents and cleaning agents and their use. -Preferred
• Demonstrated commercial mechanical ability sufficient to operate laundry equipment. -Preferred
• Demonstrated ability in sewing and garment repair. - Required
• Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of staff and management. -Preferred
• Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written and oral instructions -Preferred
• Working knowledge of basic computer with the ability to retrieve emails, send emails and access the intranet homepage -Preferred

Work Setting/Position Demands:

• Demonstrated ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, balance, climb and lift on a regular basis. Lifting includes raising objects from a lower to higher position or to move objects horizontally from position-to-position. Frequently lifting objects up to 50 pounds unassisted and over 50 pounds assisted.
• Requires both verbal and written communication to exchange accurate information to customers and associates on a regular basis.
• Requires visual acuity to read and interpret correspondence and procedures via paper and electronic documents, visual inspection involving small defects; small parts, and/or operation of machinery (including inspection); using measurement devices continuously. Visual acuity is required to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned.
• Requires the ability to prepare written correspondence, reports and forms using prescribed formats.
• Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems and resolutions.
• Must be able to safely use laundry and janitorial equipment and chemicals.
• This position works in both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.
• Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects/events.
