Overview

The Relationship Manager plays a crucial role in building and retaining business through identification and fulfillment of client needs offering proactive, personalized client service designed to create an exceptional client experience with Fort Washington Investment Advisors. The position participates in a team approach to serving clients; partnering with other team advisors in addition to collaborating with operations, marketing, compliance and other areas of the organization. The role requires a solid understanding of the investment advisory and financial planning process, and the ability to address and explain these, and other issues, to high net worth individuals and their families. The Relationship Manager serves as a main point of contact for the day-to-day administration of a client's wealth management needs, including account administration, money movement and fund transfers. The Relationship Manager works closely with other team members to deliver the highest possible level of client service, proactive client contact, and customized advice. Works with minimal supervision and is responsible to independently make a broad range of critical decisions, escalating to more senior officers and executive level management when appropriate.

Responsibilities

What you will do:
  • Serves as a main day-to-day point of contact for all client administrative and service needs. Collaborates with team members to proactively deliver a full range of wealth management, investment management and planning solutions to private wealth clients. Responds quickly and accurately to client service issues and concerns. Addresses service issues proactively and communicates regularly with the client. This position requires excellent EQ and business judgement in order to deepen existing relationships, develop new client relationships and help grow the business.
  • Seeks to retain and expand business with existing clients by anticipating client needs and proactively introducing additional wealth management solutions as appropriate. Seeks to generate referrals from satisfied clients and their other external advisors.
  • Collaborates with operations, compliance, outside custodial partners, IT/systems, and other vendors as necessary to properly administer and manage client relationships. Opens (and closes) accounts which will include document processing securities transfer, compliance, and important reporting requirements (DOL etc), and problem resolution.
  • Is responsible for other routine, day-to-day client service requirements including client money movement, cash management, routine client reporting, client custodian issues, operational problems affecting the client, client correspondence and document maintenance, and general portfolio inquiries.
  • Continues to expand knowledge base by attending internal investment meetings, education seminars, and continuing education within FWIA. The Relationship Manager may also attend outside seminars and education sessions approved by management.
  • May serve (along with teammates) as liaison with client's other outside advisors as required, namely accountants, tax and estate attorneys, trustees, administrators, agents and business associates, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Preferably in business (finance, accounting, or marketing) or equivalent experience within investment industry - Required
  • Must have minimum of three years of experience in the wealth management/investment (or brokerage) field working as a relationship manager (trust associate or brokerage associate) for private wealth management clients and balanced, multi-strategy institutional clients. Experience must include the following: a) a high degree of EQ; demonstrated ability to communicate with clients regarding all aspects of their wealth management needs, as well as communicate basic wealth planning concepts such as probate, trusts, retirement plans, education accounts, etc.; b) demonstrated ability to manage client expectations; c) demonstrated ability to collaborate with teammates in compliance, operations, marketing and investments, including working with other client advisors (legal, accounting, etc.); d) demonstrated social skills and ability to entertain clients at firm-sponsored events and social gatherings in a variety of settings and circumstances. - Required
  • Proven experience coordinating multiple projects/assignments simultaneously and completing assigned tasks in an accurate and timely manner. Must demonstrate a strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills. Must demonstrate project management experience in planning, executing, and maintaining a project from start to finish. - Required
  • Proven knowledge of investments, securities, securities processing, related operations and tax implications of portfolio decisions. -
  • Demonstrated ability to operate comfortably in a fast-paced and fluid work environment. -
  • Proven strong analytical skills, including demonstrated experience identifying and quantifying problems and providing effective resolutions. Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and use new methodologies and provide creative solutions to issues. Experience in or direct working knowledge of back office operations and its application to both potential and existing high net worth clients. -
  • Proven knowledge of basic financial planning concepts, including demonstrated ability to apply these concepts to specific situations. -
  • Proficient knowledge of word processing, excel spreadsheet applications, PowerPoint and CRM applications -
Work Setting/Position Demands:
  • Works in an office setting and remains in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.
  • Requires the ability to verbally communicate and exchange accurate information to customers and associates on a regular basis.
  • Requires visual acuity to read and interpret a variety of correspondence, procedures, reports and forms via paper and electronic documents, visual inspection involving small defects; small parts, and/or operation of machinery (including inspection); using measurement devices continuously. Visual acuity is required to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned.
  • Requires the ability to prepare written correspondence, reports and forms using prescribed formats and conforming to rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style on a regular basis.
  • Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Performs substantial movement of wrists, hands, and fingers for continuous computer work.
  • Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects/events.
